To speak of emotions, is to speak of the heart
For they are one and the same, never apart

(Daima Hussain)

Tides of Emotion’ is the first poetry book of a dynamic educator, poet, writer and blogger Daima Hussain who started her own blog under the title Chardasuuraj.com in 2018. Gradually, this blogger surrendered in front of the magic of poetry, dedicated her efforts to exploring diverse poetic forms and allowed the untapped poet in her to pen down her scattered imaginations in the form of moving poems. Daima’s poems delve deeper into the complexities of emotional patterns and I truly loved her specific poems describing particular emotions and feelings like joy, gratitude, passion, contentment, boredom, anxiety, monotony, anger, hate and weariness. Her expression reflects her art of conveying complicated abstract concepts in mature, meaningful and touching words. I agree with the idea that creativity and sensitivity are twin sisters. The creative touch and the emotional depth that Daima’s poems present, point to the ocean of sensitivity that she holds in her heart. Her poem ‘Story of the Bag’ displays her artistic lens of finding life-lessons and interesting stories in daily-life things that go unnoticed. Poem ‘To Butterflies’ is a conversation with my favourite insects, the butterflies, an admiration of their beauty, spell and freedom. Daima turned into a poet in her mature years but deep down there was a baby poet in her who was collecting memories and imaginative ideas, who had been growing with her and at this point it pushed Daima and handed her over the stored treasure to be turned into meaningful poems.
